VDOT’s Multi-Use Trail Project Updates

Up-to-date information on VDOT Route 626 (Leeland Road) Pedestrian and Bicycle:

  • Notice from LSCA Board of Directors:

The multi-use trail project is a VDOT public transportation project.  VDOT has been in communication with the Leeland Station Community Association regarding compensation for an easement on our existing path. As we understand it, VDOT will remove all of the trees along our walking path that runs parallel with Leeland Road and expand the current 4-foot wide asphalt path to a 10-foot-wide path.  The LSCA Board of Directors had recently become aware of the impact to community property and have heard from residents that are adjacent to the path.  The residents have raised several concerns about the project that we share.  Given that LSCA was presented with the VDOT offer on July 14, 2021, VDOT has graciously agreed to the August 3, 2021 Board of Directors meeting to speak about the project and hear concerns from members of the community.
