A number of issues at the pool have arisen that the Association feels the need to address.
The Pool Policy and Pool Rules are in place to protect both the pool guests and Association from harm.
It is the Pool Policy that "Resident and Non-Resident Members shall be issued pool passes for each family member and must provide to the Entry Post Lifeguard at time of entry to the pool. Members are responsible for picking up passes when departing the pool.
Members may bring guests as specified below:
a. Resident members will be issued two Guest Passes per family and may bring additional guests using a Leeland Station Swimming Pool Ten Punch Guest Card purchased for $20.00 when registering for 2016 family pool membership. Resident members planning to bring more than 10 guests a day must notify the Lifeguard manager two days in advance."
(Eg. if you're having a child's birthday party with more than 10 guests, you must notify the Lifeguard Manager two days in advance.)
Additionally, in the event a party is so large it requires additional lifeguards, the party organizer will be responsible for any additional fees related to lifeguard coverage. It is best to discuss a pool event with the Lifeguard Manager to ensure you're not surprised with a bill from the HOA. The HOA and it's membership cannot be expected to pay fees related to your private event.
Under section 4 of the Pool Rules, entitled "Rules applicable to children:
a. Children ages 3 and under must have a parent or guardian in the water within arm’s reach of them at all times.
b. Children ages 11 and under must be accompanied by a parent or guardian, who must remain with the child while using the pool (remain within the pool facility enclosure).
c. Guardians must be 16 years old or older and must be designated as such on the registration form and if not a pool member will use a household guest pass.
d. Children ages 12 to 18 years may come to the pool unescorted provided they have passed the minimum swimming requirement established by pool management / lifeguards. To attain unescorted status, a child must have parental consent and demonstrate to a lifeguard or staff the ability to swim the length of the pool using any stroke and tread water for one minute.
(1) Children ages 12 - 15 years may come to the pool unescorted but may not bring guests.
(2) Children ages 16-17 may bring one guest.
e. Use of the wading pool is limited to children ages 5 and under. Children using the wading pool must be accompanied by a parent or guardian and remain within the wading pool fenced area.
f. Children who are not toilet-trained must wear swim diapers with snug fitting, rubber or rubber-like waterproof pants over them when using the wading or regular pools. Disposable diapers are not permitted. Health rules dictate the pool must be closed, super chlorinated, and thoroughly cleaned when it becomes contaminated with human waste. Accordingly, parents and guardians must properly attire children.
g. A 15-minute break is required every hour for all children ages 17 or under. Rest periods will be prescribed by the lifeguards / staff."
"The pool manager, assistant manager and lifeguards shall strictly enforce the rules and are granted authority to excuse any member or guest from the pool facility. A written statement, prepared by a Lifeguard, will be filed with the Community Manager on the same day such action is taken. Pool passes will be withheld upon any suspension.
The parents of any child 17 years old and under who is suspended from the pool will be notified in writing. Passes will only be returned by the Board Advisory Committee Pool Pass Administrator or the Community Manager to the parents by appointment during regular business hours. Lifeguards will not be required to readmit offenders before pool passes are returned by one of the pool officials. The pool manager and lifeguards are the final authority on all matters that arise during pool operating hours. When a member disagrees with the pool manager or lifeguards, that member is obligated to follow their direction and report such disagreement to the Community Manager within one business day."
