Graduates Parade

Leeland Station is sponsoring a parade to honor the 2020 High School Graduates that live in Leeland Station.  We would like to also include students that are completing 8th grade, 5th grade, and kindergarten this year.  All of these significant milestones in student academic careers are often celebrated at their schools in ceremonial recognition with pomp and circumstance.   With the response to the COVID-19 pandemic these students will not have graduations or moving on ceremonies when they are normally held.

On Saturday May 30 at 2 PM students are invited to drive through the neighborhood in a parade to be cheered on by residents.  We invite all Leeland Station neighbors to step outside of their home and cheer these students on.  For those on the route of the parade please come out in your front yard at 2 PM and cheer as the parade comes past your home.  For those not on the route there are areas on the route that have open space and provide the opportunity to remain social distant and cheer on the parade.  We are sorry we can’t have the parade in front of every home, but it would not feasible to have them drive into cul-de-sacs and terminal roads.

If you are a high school senior or parent of an 8th grader, 5th grader, or kindergartner and can participate please fill out this form so we can get a headcount and prepare to organize the parade.  We ask that you plan to line up in the gravel parking lot at the VRE station at 1:30 PM on May 30. We encourage you to decorate your car.

This is open to all high school seniors, 8th graders, 5th graders and kindergartners (regardless of school) that live in Leeland Station.

Parade route will begin at gravel VRE lot. It will take Primer House to Riggs road. Follow Riggs Road all the way around to Walnut Farms. It w will turn onto Walnut Farms to Hunton. Turn down Hunton, Neabsco and Brownfield and back to Portland. Portland to Hunton to Walnut Famrs and across to the east side on to Perth, Woodford and Colman Mills existing back to the VRE lot.
